iPhone 17 Pro leak suggests Apple will reposition logo and tweak MagSafe

By all accounts, Apple is preparing one of the boldest design overhauls in recent iPhone history. Persistent leaks have already revealed that the iPhone 17 Pro is expected to sport a striking full-width camera array — but new renders from reliable leaker Majin Bu hint at another subtle yet significant change: a redesigned MagSafe system and repositioned Apple logo.

Why is Apple moving the logo?

According to the leaked render, the Apple logo on the iPhone 17 Pro sits noticeably lower on the back of the device compared to current models. The reason seems practical: the new, wider camera housing consumes so much vertical space that leaving the logo where it was would land it awkwardly in the middle of many MagSafe accessories. To avoid this, Apple appears to have shifted the logo — and with it, the MagSafe ring — downward slightly.

What’s new with MagSafe?

The MagSafe ring itself also appears subtly updated. The once-unbroken circle now shows a small gap, though it remains unclear whether this is purely aesthetic or indicative of some new functionality.

The good news: older MagSafe accessories will still work. According to Majin Bu’s sources, the internal magnetic structure and alignment have not changed, so your existing MagSafe wallets, chargers, and stands will remain compatible.

However, separate reports point to faster MagSafe charging speeds on the iPhone 17 series, likely due to improvements in the MagSafe charger rather than in the phone’s internal hardware. Apple may release a next-generation magnetic charging puck alongside the new iPhones.

Aesthetic changes with bigger implications

Apple’s full-width camera bump alone already represents one of the most radical aesthetic changes since the iPhone X. But the repositioned logo and tweaked MagSafe further signal Apple’s intent to rethink the iPhone’s rear design language entirely.

While these changes may seem minor at first glance, they could influence everything from case compatibility to how accessories attach and align.

What it means for you

If you’re worried about your MagSafe accessories or cases, you can relax — everything you already own should still function. The real question is how consumers will react to the iPhone’s updated look. Will they notice? Will they care?

One thing’s clear: with the iPhone 17 lineup, Apple isn’t just iterating — it’s making a statement. Whether that statement resonates with users will be revealed when the phone is officially unveiled later this year.

Stay tuned for more updates as the launch approaches.
