Tesla Adds Grok AI, Music-Synced Lights, and Charging Site Details in New Software Update

Tesla has released a new software update that brings Grok AI integration, music-reactive lighting, updated dashcam and audio controls, and enhanced charging station details to its vehicles. The company announced the rollout through its official X (formerly Twitter) account.

Drivers in the US can now access Grok, the AI assistant built by xAI, directly from their Tesla. The feature is currently in beta and works with Premium Connectivity or a Wi-Fi connection. Grok does not control the car yet—existing voice commands remain in place.

With the Light Sync feature, Tesla now lets cabin accent lights respond to music. Available on the new Model 3 and Model Y, 2026 Model S and Model X, and the Cybertruck, this feature also lets users match the lights to the colours of the album art. Drivers can find Light Sync under Toybox > Light Sync.

Tesla has also upgraded its audio settings. Drivers can now create and save multiple sound presets tailored to different listening preferences by heading to Controls > Audio.

The updated dashcam interface allows users to zoom in and change playback speed. Cybertruck owners get a new Dashcam Viewer app with a grid layout, making it easier to browse and review footage.

Tesla has improved the charging experience by adding more detailed site information. Drivers can now see icons for valet-only or pay-to-park stations in the charger list. Upon arrival, the car displays a notification with access codes, parking floor or level details, restrictions, and restroom availability. Tesla Charging posted about these changes on July 4.

New Tesla drivers using a left-hand drive Model 3 or Model Y can now access an Onboarding Guide. The guide walks them through key features like adjusting driver settings, touchscreen usage, and using the steering wheel to control lights, wipers, and Autopilot. The guide is located under Controls > Service > Onboarding Guide.
