Amazon Commits Over $233 Million to Boost India’s Logistics and Employee Well-being

Amazon is doubling down on its commitment to India with a fresh investment of more than $233 million lined up for 2025. The company says the funds will go into expanding its logistics network, introducing smarter tech, and improving working conditions for thousands of its employees and delivery partners across the country.

The idea is simple: deliver faster, safer, and more reliably—while also taking better care of the people behind the scenes. Amazon wants to speed up order processing, improve infrastructure at fulfilment centres, and build out its delivery network to meet rising customer expectations.

“For over a decade now in India, we have been focused on building the best in class logistics infrastructure designed to deliver with safety, speed, scale, and reliability for our customers across the country,” said Abhinav Singh, Vice President of Operations for Amazon India and Australia. “These latest investments reflect our commitment to continually expand and upgrade our operations across our fulfilment, sortation, and delivery network.”

The company is also taking steps to make its buildings more inclusive and energy-efficient. Updates include better cooling systems, designated rest areas, and improved accessibility for people with disabilities.

“By strengthening our infrastructure capabilities, enhancing processing capacity, and implementing state of the art technology, we’re positioning Amazon to better serve customers throughout India while supporting our employees, associates and partners who are the heart of it all,” Singh added.

Beyond logistics, Amazon is putting a lot of focus on its workforce. The company is expanding several welfare initiatives. Ashray provides rest stops for delivery associates—complete with seating, drinking water, charging points, and washrooms. Samridhi focuses on financial literacy and planning, while Pratidhi helps fund education for associates’ children. There’s also Sushruta, which supports the healthcare needs of truck drivers.

In another major move, Amazon has started offering free medical checkups to over 80,000 delivery partners across India through nationwide health camps. All associates are covered by insurance and have access to on-site first aid facilities.

Amazon is also bringing in new tech to make deliveries safer and more efficient. Delivery associates will get real-time safety alerts and reminders to take breaks when needed. A new app will help evenly distribute delivery routes and make it easier to navigate tricky addresses. There’s even a system that checks whether drivers are wearing helmets before a trip starts.
